Richly sherried single malt from what Douglas Laing this is probably the finest distillery in Speyside, aged for a massive 50 years in a single sherry butt! This was distilled in November 1967 and bottled in 2018 for the Xtra Old Particular range, producing 248 bottles. We'll leave you to try and figure out which distillery it was from...

The nose is big, with powerful dark and macerated fruits, plus a spiced backdrop. The palate is interestingly oaky with a twist of vanilla, barley and a home baked style, and the finish is almost minty in its dryness ahead of mocha and even later molasses.

Labelled as being distilled at "Probably Speyside's Finest Distillery," better known as Glenfarclas, in 1967, this is a very well-aged single cask.

Glenfarclas is considered by many to be one of the finest distilleries in Speyside. Its direct-fired stills produce a heavy single malt that is almost exclusively matured in Jerez sherry casks. The distillery focuses on single malt over blends, and a cool microclimate around the distillery that means that their casks are particularly stingy to the "angels," resulting in an incredible depth of stock. Glenfarclas also feel they share some credit for the modern day love of cask strength whisky, introducing their acclaimed 105 proof expressions back in 1968.
